Frustrated by poorly executed flips that left homeowners dealing with the consequences, he set out to raise the standard for residential construction. Over the years, the company has grown through referrals and now specializes in custom home building. Joined by his brother, Christian Hughes, the team shares a commitment to delivering thoughtfully designed homes built with integrity. Each home features original design, carefully selected finishes, and exceptional craftsmanship—backed by a comprehensive front-to-back warranty.

Clayton Hughes

Clayton began his career at 15 as a carpenter’s apprentice framing homes in Arlington, VA. He went on to spend over a decade building high-end custom homes with award-winning builders before founding New Urban Homes. His experience spans roles as a carpenter, project manager, millwork shop manager, and contractor—giving him a deep, hands-on understanding of every phase of construction. This breadth of experience, combined with strong business acumen, makes him a trusted expert in the field. Outside of work, Clayton gives back by mentoring youth through a local nonprofit.
Fun fact: he once owned an organic farm supplying vegetables, honey, and flowers to local restaurants.
