New Urban Homes is a construction and development company founded in 2018 by brothers Clayton and Christian Hughes. Built on a shared commitment to quality and collaboration we believe that every home should be built to reflect the lives of those who live in them.

Meet the Team

Clayton Hughes, President

Clayton began his career as a carpenter, working hands-on in the field for over 15 years before earning his General Contractor’s license and founding New Urban Homes in 2018. His background includes building high-end custom homes and restoring historic properties in Washington, D.C. and Charleston, SC. His time managing luxury residential projects sharpened his attention to detail and deepened his belief in process-driven building. Clayton’s commitment to quality craftsmanship is evident in his everyday approach; meticulous and with high expectations. Clayton loves the Commanders, dogs, int’l trips, tennis, and is a skilled woodworker.

Christian Hughes, Vice President

Christian started as a kid working with his Dad and eventually alongside Clayton since he was a kid. He studied Historic Preservation and Urban Studies at the College of Charleston and refined his skills working on the renovation of historic homes. Christian worked as a Project Manager working on award-winning projects in Charleston, SC. Fluent in Spanish and trained in computer-aided design (CAD), Christian ensures precise communication to all parties. Dedicated to client satisfaction he ensures each project runs smoothly from start to finish. Christian is currently studying for an MS in Real Estate Development at George Mason University. When not studying, Christian loves music, traveling, gardening, tennis, and Spindrifts.
