New Urban Homes is a construction and development company founded in 2018 by brothers Clayton and Christian Hughes. Built on a shared commitment to quality and collaboration we believe that every home should should be crafted to reflect the lives of the people who live in it.

We partner closely with our clients through every stage of the custom homebuilding process—from the initial design conversation to the final walkthrough. With a hands-on approach and a curated team of master craftsmen, we deliver homes marked by elite craftsmanship, fair pricing, efficient timelines, and meticulous attention to detail.

As a family-run business, we’re personally involved in every project. We maintain clear communication throughout the process and are regularly on-site—not just owners who manage from afar. Meet the Builder

Clayton Hughes, President

Clayton began his career as a carpenter, working hands-on in the field for over 15 years before earning his General Contractor’s license and founding New Urban Homes in 2018. His background includes building high-end custom homes and restoring historic properties in Washington, D.C. and Charleston, SC. His time managing luxury residential projects sharpened his attention to detail and deepened his belief in process-driven building. Clayton’s commitment to quality craftsmanship is evident in every home he leads.

Christian Hughes, Vice President

Christian started swinging a hammer with his dad at 13 and went on to study Historic Preservation and Urban Studies at the College of Charleston. He developed his project management skills leading an in-house crew and cabinet shop on award-winning custom homes in Charleston, SC. Fluent in Spanish and trained in computer-aided design (CAD), Christian brings both precision and communication to the job site. Dedicated to client satisfaction he ensures each project runs smoothly from start to finish. When he’s not on-site or behind the screen Christian is busy earning his Master’s degree in Real Estate Development at George Mason University.
